Tell us what phone you are on and what you expected to happen. That is usually enough.
Almost always one of two causes, and the app can tell you which. Open Area8, tap the bell icon on the Today screen, and it will show whether notifications are blocked or whether battery optimisation is switched on for the app. Samsung, Xiaomi and OnePlus are aggressive about killing background work, and that screen links straight to the right settings page.
Note that a date already in the past does not fire a reminder. It shows as overdue in your list instead, rather than ambushing you with a backlog when you next open the app.
Area8 uses your phone's own speech recognition. If your phone has none installed, or the offline language pack is missing, dictation will not start. Typing always works, and everything reachable by voice is reachable by keyboard.
That backup cannot be opened. Not by you, and not by us. The passphrase is never sent anywhere and is not stored, which is what makes the file safe to keep in a cloud drive. Make a new backup with a passphrase you record somewhere safe.
On the old phone: Today screen, bell icon, Backup, then Create a backup. Choose a passphrase and save the file somewhere you can reach from the new phone.
On the new phone: install Area8, go to the same screen and choose Restore from a backup. Restoring merges into whatever is already there, so nothing you have written since the backup is lost.
Not today. Area8 is deliberately offline-first, and a backup file is how you move between phones. Sync is planned, and when it arrives it will be optional.
Genuinely welcome, especially from area directors and district managers. Area8 is built for one person doing a specific job, and the requests that describe the job are the most useful ones.
